A small fine pocket knife, not only for hunters. Lovers of knives with buckhorn shells will love our smallest model. With the blade made of carbon steel it is a great utility knife. It stays sharp for a long time and is easy to re-sharpen. The surfaces of the blades are tiled and show a nice, even grinding pattern. Our deer horn shells are assembled by hand and fit perfectly to the nickel silver bolsters. The precision and care that the reider invests in his work gives this knife a "soul" that is missing in many technically manufactured models today.
This knife is a true classic. It is characterised by its straight lines and practicality, attributes that have been highly appreciated by farmers and hunters over time. Today, this knife with its classic design takes the collector onto a journey into the past, just as it has established itself as a utility knife in today's everyday life. The handle grips made of genuine buckhorn have kept the natural shape of the antler. They are never mass-produced, but carefully and craftily assembled. The knife craftsman often use shells that are somewhat bulbous or hollowed. They give the knife a very interesting, alive appearance. A genuine OTTER knife, and not only for hunters. The bolsters, tang, lever and rivets of the knife are made of brass and give it a harmonious design. The blade is available in a stainless or carbon steel option. Anyone looking for a utility knife would choose carbon steel for its longer durability and edge-holding capacity, as well as its ease of re-sharpening. The non-corrosive steel is more resistant to moisture and does not leave any residual metal taste. Hunting pocket knife with special unlocking mechanism This strong pocket knife possesses a very fine and interesting looking unlocking mechanism for the blade. The lever on the handle back gets pushed forward to unlock the blade. This lifts the spring and the blade can be folded in. This mechanism facilitates the safe handling of the knife. Bolsters, tang, lever and rivets are made of brass, the handle is made of buckhorn. When shopping for a utility knife, you should choose a carbon blade because of its easier re-sharpening properties and longer lasting edge. Another option is a blade made of stainless steel. Trapper Knife – Between Myth and Craftsmanship The History of the Trapper Knife The term “Trapper knife” originates from the world of 19th-century North American fur trappers—men who lived in the wilderness and relied on dependable tools. However, the knife as we know it today was developed much later. The classic Trapper knife pattern was introduced in the 1920s in the United States, when manufacturers began standardising proven pocket knife designs for hunting, outdoor use, and everyday tasks. The historic name “Trapper” was deliberately retained, linking the knife to the rugged frontier era of North America. Functional Two-Blade Design The Trapper knife is a traditional slipjoint pocket knife with a non-locking blade held in place by a spring mechanism, known for its simple and reliable construction. It typically features two distinct blades: Clip-point blade: A versatile all-rounder designed for precise cutting tasks in daily use and outdoor applications. Spey blade: With its more rounded, blunter tip, historically developed for skinning and dressing game while minimising the risk of damaging internal organs. This dual-blade configuration still makes the Trapper knife a highly practical companion for hunting, outdoor life and everyday carry. Materials with Character The blades are made from C75 high-carbon steel, representing traditional tool-making philosophy. They sharpen exceptionally well and develop a unique patina over time. The handle is crafted from genuine stag, ensuring that each Trapper knife is truly unique. It is complemented by classic nickel silver bolsters and a brass liner, both characteristic materials of traditional pocket knife craftsmanship.
Trapper Knife – Natural Materials, Distinct Character A Classic Reinterpreted Through Wood While the Trapper knife is rooted in traditional American knife-making, these variants highlight a different kind of heritage: the character of natural wood. Instead of uniformity, each handle tells its own story through grain, color, and structure. Whether crafted from warm walnut wood or deep, richly textured stabilised bog oak, every knife becomes a one-of-a-kind piece shaped by nature and refined by craftsmanship. Walnut – Warmth and Tradition The walnut version brings a classic, organic feel to the Trapper knife. Its fine grain and warm brown tones create a timeless appearance that blends naturally with the traditional silhouette of the knife. Walnut has long been valued in fine woodworking for its balance of durability and elegance, making it a natural choice for a tool that bridges everyday use and collectible craftsmanship. Stabilised Bog Oak – Depth and Individuality The stabilised bog oak variant takes a more striking approach. Formed over centuries in peat bogs, this rare wood develops an exceptionally deep, dark appearance. Through stabilisation, the material gains enhanced durability while preserving its natural structure. The result is a handle with remarkable visual depth—each piece unique, with organic patterns shaped by time itself. Functional Heritage, Refined Materials Like all Trapper knives, these versions feature a traditional slipjoint construction with a dual-blade system consisting of a clip-point and spey blade. This ensures reliable performance for everyday tasks, outdoor use, and precision cutting. The combination of high-carbon steel blades and natural wood handles creates a balanced tool that feels both functional and personal. Conclusion – Two Woods, One Philosophy Whether walnut or stabilised bog oak, these Trapper knife variants emphasise individuality over uniformity. They carry forward the functional heritage of the original design while expressing it through natural materials that make every knife unmistakably unique.
Trapper Slim Stag Horn* – Natural Elegance with Character The Trapper Slim with a stag horn handle combines minimalist design with the raw beauty of nature. Each piece of stag horn is unique in its texture and color gradient, giving every knife its own distinct character. The slender construction and the single slipjoint blade make this knife an unobtrusive everyday companion. It is lightweight, elegant, and intentionally reduced – a true gentleman’s knife for the pocket. A piece of nature that doesn't strive for perfection, but for individuality. * Stag horn is a natural product. We have no influence on the appearance of the material. This makes each knife unique. Trapper Slim Walnut & Bog Oak – natural depth in a slim design The Trapper Slim in walnut and stabilized bog oak combines minimalist design with the expressive character of natural materials. Walnut offers warm, classic elegance with refined grain patterns, while bog oak delivers a deep, centuries-old texture with a bold and distinctive presence. Each version is truly unique. With its slim profile and single slipjoint blade, the Trapper Slim remains a discreet and functional everyday companion – refined, lightweight, and purposefully minimal.
