Would you like to build your own individual pocket knife? Then you can let your creativity run wild to your heart's content in our pocket knife workshop. After an exciting day (including a snack of Kottenwurst and bread rolls) in our knife factory in Solingen, you'll take home a truly unique piece.

Create your very own individual pocket knife!

In the pocket knife workshop you can build many of the knives available in our shop.

Decide for yourself what kind of pocket knife you want:

Anchor knife
Liner lock knife
Finn knife or
Hunting and outdoor pocket knives

Choose the blade material of your unique pocket knife in the workshop:

Carbon steel (carbon steel),
Damascus steel,
stainless steel,
Böhlerstahl

Selects the material for the handle according to your taste in the pocket knife workshop:

various precious woods,
cattle bones,
coloured horn,
stabilised woods,
Micarta

... and so far everyone has found something in one of our "leftover boxes" You are also welcome to bring suitable materials for your own individual handle!

Your unique pocket knife with engraving

In small groups (maximum 4 people) and under the guidance of qualified cutting tool mechanics and knife sharpeners, you will spend a whole day in the workshop of the OTTER-Messer manufactory in Solingen performing all the work steps yourself that are necessary to build a pocket knife. And depending on the model, there are quite a few! A handmade pocket knife needs up to 180 different work steps until it is finished. At the end of the workshop, you are guaranteed to have a pocket knife that no one else has. And with a laser engraving, you can add your name to your unique piece.

Registration for the Pocket Knife Workshop

When: Every Saturday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Price per participant:: 350,00 €*

Minimum number of participants: 2 persons

Maximum number of participants: 4 persons

Minimum age: 14 years

Please note: If the minimum number of participants is not reached on your desired date, we reserve the right to postpone the date.

* The price includes: 1 self-made pocket/hunting knife, blade steel of your choice, all handle materials in stock, consumables, use of workshop, instruction by one of our course instructors, lunch snack and drinks.

Important information:

At the start of the course, we will provide you with a disclaimer and a declaration of consent regarding course photos, which must be signed. The full amount must be paid immediately after booking, the place is only firmly booked after receipt of payment. If payment is not received 3 weeks before the course, the place will be released and the booking cancelled. We will inform you about the cancellation by email.
