Pocket Knife Workshop at OTTER-Messer

Would you like to build your very own custom pocket knife? In our pocket knife workshop, you can let your creativity run wild to your heart's content. After an exciting day (including a snack with traditional "Kottenwurst" sausage and bread rolls) at our knife manufactory in Solingen, you will take a truly unique piece home with you.

In the pocket knife workshop, you can build many of the knives available in our shop.

Decide for yourself which type of pocket knife it should be:

Anchor Knife (Ankermesser)
Liner-Lock Knife
Finn Knife
Hunting and Outdoor Pocket Knife

Choose the blade material for your unique pocket knife in the workshop:

Carbon steel,
Damascus steel,
Stainless steel,
Böhler steel

Choose the material for the handle in the pocket knife workshop according to your taste:

various fine wood types,
cattle bone,
variegated horn,
stabilized woods,
Micarta

... and so far, everyone has found something in one of our "scrap boxes." You are also welcome to bring suitable materials for your very own custom handle!

Your Unique Custom Pocket Knife with Engraving

In small groups (maximum 4 people) and under the guidance of qualified surgical instrument and cutlery mechanics and knife grinders, you will spend a full day in the OTTER-Messer manufactory workshop in Solingen, carrying out every step required to build a pocket knife yourself. And depending on the model, that's quite a few! A handcrafted pocket knife takes up to 180 different steps to complete. At the end of the workshop, you are guaranteed to have a pocket knife like no one else's. And with laser engraving, you can add the final touch to your unique piece with your name.

Registration for the Pocket Knife Workshop

When?: every Saturday of the month from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Where?: OTTER-Messer, Schwertstraße 35, 42651 Solingen

Price per participant: €350.00*

Minimum number of participants: 2 people

Maximum number of participants: 4 people

Minimum age: 14 years

Note: If the minimum number of participants for your requested date is not reached up to 2 weeks before, we reserve the right to reschedule the appointment.

* Included in the price: 1 self-built pocket/hunting knife, choice of blade steel, all in-stock handle materials, consumables, workshop use, guidance by one of our instructors, lunch snack, and drinks.

Important Information:

At the start of the course, we will provide you with a liability waiver and a consent form regarding course photos, which must be signed. The full amount must be paid immediately after booking; your spot is only firmly reserved once payment has been received. If no payment has been received up to 3 weeks before the course, the spot will be released and the booking will be canceled. We will inform you of the cancellation by email.
