Schönes, robustes Arbeitsmesser mit kleinen Wermutstropfen
Das Ankermesser von Otter ist rustikales Arbeitsmesser – und zugleich eine Schönheit. Meine Version in Räuchereiche weist zwar kleinere Produktionsungenauigkeiten auf – zum Beispiel ist um den eingelegten Edelstahl-Anker herum offenbar etwas gespachtelt worden – die aber nur bei sehr genauer Betrachtung auffallen. Im Vergleich zu meinem Ankermesser von Klaas ist es minimal weniger sauber verarbeitet. Der Preis ist (wie bei Klaas) recht stolz für ein einfaches Arbeitsmesser, und die Klinge hat keinen 90°-Stop wie mein Klaas. Dennoch liebe ich es. Die Feder ist stark, die Klinge kräftig und robust – die Klinge schlägt nicht auf, auch wenn man das Messer zuschnappen lässt. Die gerade Klinge lässt sich außerdem leicht und gut schärfen und eignet sich für viele Arbeiten, insbesondere für ziehende Schnitte, für Schnitzarbeiten usw. (etwas weniger gut fürs Schneiden auf Tellern und dgl.). Die Optik und Haptik des Eichenholzes sind fantastisch. Die Klinge sitzt mittig und ohne Spiel. Das Lederband rundet die Sache ab. Alles in allem ein schönes und eines der typischsten Messer für eine Sammlung. Ich habe noch das passende Etui in Naturleder gekauft – zusammen ein Traum, und das Messer ist darin perfekt aufgehoben. Ich bin durch dieses Messer ein Fan der Otter-Messer geworden. Das einzige, was mir an den Messern der Marke nicht ganz so gut gefällt ist, dass das schöne Otter-Logo etwas "billig" aufgelasert (oder geätzt?) wird, anstatt geprägt. Das würde deutlich wertiger wirken und wäre auch langlebiger. Warum Otter diesen (aus meiner Sicht weniger schicken) Weg geht, leuchtet mir nicht so ganz ein, aber vermutlich sind es Kostengründe. Kurz: Auch wenn Otter hier noch ein bisschen was verbessern könnte: Das Ankermesser ist eins meiner Lieblingsmesser. Klare Kaufempfehlung. Hier kann man nichts falsch machen.
